Realtime Application Development

Comnet has designed and developed embedded systems solutions that provide protocol translation and other services. Primarily developed to communicate with the Class 5 telephony Switch, it can be used for other functions as well.

The development skills, coupled with our ISO-compliant development methodology, along with the ability to perform development in our off-shore development center allow Comnet to provide world-class embedded systems development.

The switch connection utilizes one or two ISDN BRIs running a specific Switch protocol over X.25. Messages to and from the Switch are converted to other formats and transport.

One configuration is used to support converting X.25-based messages to ASCII-encoded asynchronous communication over RS232. Other applications communicate via TCP/IP to the associated system.

These systems can be remotely managed and configured (SNMP and/or via Telnet). Additionally, software updates can be sent via FTP and remotely updated on the system. Using the Motorola PowerPC, Flash, RAM, LED Displays, Infineon ISDN chips and the reliable VxWorks RTOS, this system provides a robust and highly reliable translation engine that is deployed in the major telecom networks in the US. This product continues to evolve with new applications and feature sets being provided approximately every 6 months.

This product is developed on dedicated PC server platforms using WindRiver's Tornado development environment. The application code on the platform was developed in-house, including the X.25 ISDN stack.
